Artist, Linda Bass, hails from a family of firefighters; her husband, sister, and three brother-in-laws, one of which was taken by the flames.  Linda created the wreath logo for the Foundation.  In her own words, she describes her journey. 

"When Vicki, the WFF Executive Director asked me to come up with a logo for the Foundation, I was really  honored and wanted to develop something from the heart in memory of not only my relatives, but of the friends and comrades lost over the years.  I decided to start with themsot basic "symbol" of all real on-the-ground fire people who drive a tool, rather than a desk.  So, thinking back, I remember the first piece of gear that I had acquired many years before - my boots.  'Get the right one's, take care of them, and they'll take care of you.'  From there, I wanted to create a circle - one that took the path of the flames; charred land, and at times, hearts; then moved on from the devastation to hope and rebirth.  This design eventually emerged with the flames and black, continuing the circle of life symbolized by the new growth of green intertwining with the purple of hope and remembrance."
